There are so many stressors in life and it doesn’t help when those 9 am classes are knocking on the front door. Set that time to look at yourself in the mirror and take a deep breath. Get up out of that chair you’ve been sitting in for hours and walk around, talk to a friend, or even just rest your eyes for a little power nap.
You probably need it more than you think!
A friend of mine who commutes to school has incredibly difficult coursework, commitments to lots of clubs and organizations, and a part-time job. He has trouble finding time to be himself. He shared that he felt so burnt out and stressed that he had to ask himself if doing all of the things he was doing was even helping him in any way.
Furthermore, the commute back and forth takes away from time where anyone else would be able to catch up on assignments or take a second to breathe. Last but not least, coming home to a busy environment doesn’t particularly help with studying or concentrating on various assignments.
In the hustle and bustle of life in general, it's crucial to carve out time for yourself, especially during stressful periods. Amidst deadlines, exams, and other obligations, prioritizing self-care can make a significant difference in your well-being.
Whether it's through relaxation techniques, exercise, hobbies, or simply taking a moment to breathe, giving yourself permission to unwind can help you recharge and face challenges with a clear mind.
Remember, your mental and physical health are paramount, so don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or counseling services if you're feeling overwhelmed.
Taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's a vital part of being able to navigate life's demands effectively.
