26-27 Executive board

If you’re reading this, welcome back Gamecocks!

Welcome Back!! We hope your first few weeks back on campus have been full of excitement and fun! With classes and extracurriculars picking back up, we understand that burnout may be closely approaching. Here are some of our Executive Board’s favorite ways to recharge between tasks! :)

Tremaine Harmon (Vice-President): College can be a huge adjustment socially as well as academically, don't let classes or life get you down. It’s important to take care of your priorities but it is just as important to take care of your mind. One way I do this is by reading a book or webcomic I enjoy while I take a break. Another way is to indulge in any of your other hobbies or maybe even exploring a new one! Remember, the path to success is a long one and you definitely have what it takes. Stay focused and stay Cocky!!!!

Melansey Francis (President): When dealing with stress, another way to reset your mind while taking a break may be physical exercise, even as small as taking a walk or jog. Physical tasks have the ability to release certain hormones such as dopamine and serotonin, which are known to improve your mood for the better. I enjoy taking walks because they allow me to slow down and take a second to appreciate the small things around me. Walks are also a great time to have a moment of reflection, and when you revisit your tasks you may find yourself looking at them from a different angle than you did earlier.

Sohaila Moemen (Social Media Chair): Don’t forget to prioritize yourself. Nothing in your life will turn out the way you want it unless you take the initiative and attempt to fix it yourself. For instance, I’m currently a Biomedical Engineering major on the Pre-Med track. I joined this major because I thought I would enjoy it and be able to achieve what I want through the things it can offer me. However, this semester proved otherwise, even though we are literally only a few weeks in I know I cannot continue in this path and be successful. So, I took initiative. I did research on other majors that better align with my goals, scheduled an appointment with the appropriate advisor, and did the necessary paperwork to switch out. It’s okay if the first road doesn’t take where you want, there is always another way.
