NYU’s President & VP

If you’re reading this, thank you for an incredible first year.

Wow, it is so strange that a full year of IfYoureReadingThis at NYU has passed quickly. This year, we have accomplished so much and are so proud of the community here at NYU. In our first year, we have amassed 20 letters, and each of them is incredibly written and tailored to its respective author. These stories have touched hearts here on campus and across the nation.

Additionally, we had our first-ever event on Washington Square Park, which was truly a success. We had approximately 200 messages of encouragement, affirmations, and reminders that “everyone is healing from something” that were exchanged. In a world that often feels disconnected, it was a powerful moment of collective care and vulnerability. Bringing the community together in times of distress through shared stories and being open-minded makes this organization so special, and I hold it so close to my heart. We aim to continue to be a space where voices matter, where healing happens, and where no one has to feel alone.

When we started this chapter, our goal was always to create a meaningful space for everyone. What we didn’t know was just how cherished and empowering this space would become. Watching students connect and support each other in ways both subtle and loud truly reminds us of the reward of when even just one person decides to share their story. None of this could have been possible without the dedication, time, and effort of each writer and our amazing executive board members. I truly believe that every letter written is a reflection of the profound amount of resilience and beauty in our community.

As we move forward into the next year, our commitment remains clear: to keep fostering a space where voices are heard, where stories matter, and where healing happens. Thank you for being part of this journey. We can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together as a community in the future.
