Georgetown Health Education Services
If you’re reading this, you’re doing enough.
We know you are carrying a lot. There is so much pressure to be perfect. The perfect student, the perfect activist, the perfect friend or sibling. The perfect human. We know that over time this pressure fractures our relationship with ourselves and our communities.
When we feel this way, it doesn't mean we should try harder or push ourselves to do more. Instead, we can turn inward, and meet our needs with tenderness and care. Some of our favorite ways we offer as considerations for you to try are:
Feel your feelings – cry, scream, or stare at the ceiling. And when it feels possible, allow room to laugh.
Binge your comfort show
Take a deep belly breath
Hug your best friend
Nourish your body with cozy, warm food
Play a game from your childhood - hide & seek, connect4, uno, charades
Dance and sing like no one’s watching
Turn off the alarms – sleep until your body wakes you
Have a rot day – your mind and body deserve a break
Above all else, do whatever you want, need, or desire… even if that is nothing at all
& if you’re feeling like it is all still too much, know that you’re not alone in this. Health Education Services is here to support you. We have particular expertise in trauma, substance use, and well-being.
