25 from ‘25
As their time on The Heights comes to an end, the four graduating seniors from the IfYou’reReadingThis Boston College team share words of advice for fellow BC students.
Read below for 25 sentiments from the Class of 2025.
If you’re reading this…
You will find your people, and it's okay if they are not the first people you meet.
You belong here. It’s hard to remember sometimes, but it is the truth.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
If you have room in your schedule, take some classes that are not required, ones that spark your curiosity. You will never have the chance to access those niche classes again.
If you don’t understand something, your classmates probably don’t either. Do not be afraid to ask questions.
College can be fun, but it doesn't have to be the best four years of your life. Don’t forget that there’s a whole world out there after you graduate.
Comparison is the thief of joy. Everyone has different goals. Be driven by your own intentions and don’t live your life on anyone else’s timeline.
Spend some time out of the “BC bubble,” explore Boston and connect with your community!
Your time is valuable. Allow yourself to set boundaries, so that you have time for the things and people you love.
Your professors are people too. They want to hear from you, and they can be a valuable resource.
Asking for help can feel difficult, but most people truly want to support you where they can!
Be a person for others. Check up on your friends and be willing to help out where you can. The favor will be returned to you someday.
Say thank you to the dining hall workers, the facilities workers, the landscapers, everyone. They do so much to keep this campus running, and you will likely brighten their day by showing your appreciation.
Sometimes done is better than good, and good is better than perfect.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
Let things happen. Sometimes life will be out of your control and letting go can be the best course of action.
Celebrate everything, no matter how big or small.
Take pictures, but don’t live your life through the lens.
You don’t need to feel pressured to go out all the time. A night snuggled on the couch with your friends can provide just as many memories.
Give your friends handwritten notes and birthday cards. It becomes the best tradition.
Be open to being vulnerable.
Rest is productive too.
Remember to stop every once in a while and see how far you have come. We are so proud of you! Be proud of yourself too.
Your mental wellbeing is a non-negotiable. Don’t be afraid to seek support. Check out the wellness resources tab on your Canvas.
Tell your people you love them. They need to hear it.
If you’re reading this, we’re rooting for you!
